Journal Assignment Summary

So for our intro to media class, we had to keep track of our media usage and for how long we used it for one week. Like if we watched TV for an hour or were surfing the web for a while we would keep a journal handy to jot it down the date, type of media, and how long it was used. From August 27th to September 3rd, I recorded my media usage and broke it down into 4 categories; TV, Internet, Radio/ iPod usage, and Print Media.

Based on my findings, I seem to watch more TV than encounter any other type of media on all days except Tuesday and Wednesday. Those are the 2 days I work the most which could explain why I watched TV less. The exposure to print media was a surprise to me because I don’t tend to read much. We started to use our books more in my classes and I’ve actually taken the time to study them. I thought the weekend would double or even triple the time that I use the media but there was only a dramatic increase of TV time, everything else seemed to only increase slightly or decrease.
